Before you light it
Trim the wick to a quarter inch. Set it on a level, heat-safe surface away from drafts.

While it burns
Let the pool reach the edge on the first burn. Never burn more than four hours at a time.

When it's done
Stop at half an inch of wax. Wash the vessel and keep it for a match strike or a small bloom.
